Early June at North Bournemouth Allotments

Early June 2019 at NBAS, the Potatoes are looking good and quite a few first earlies are being dug, the fruit trees seem to have a good crop on them, no doubt to be reduced by “June drop”, when Mother Nature sheds the excess the trees can’t carry.   A lot of Members plant flowers neat to fruit and other vegetable that need pollination to encourage the Bees to visit.   You get some unusual comments from Members over the course of the year on the Committee, this mornings were from Roger G “The Pigeons are sitting on top of his Peas to get at the young shots” and one of our new Members has put an “L Plate” by her Scarecrow to show they are newcomers to the Allotment Life.  They seem to be getting on well L Plate or not.  The Red Poppies were nearly impossible to photograph, they looked as if they were made from very shiny red wax.
